Engineer a Snake Repelling Hat (grades 1-12)
Ask students if they have ever designed and built anything? Have students share their ideas with a neighbour or with the group. Explain that being a Critical Thinker means that you need to be able to experiment with different ways of doing things. Ask them to listen to the story and think about what the character did that helped them be Critical Thinker Read aloud Andrea Beaty's book "Rosie Revere Engineer." Have students design and develop their own snake repelling hat (see link below for more information: https://www.andreabeaty.com/rosie-revere-engineer.html Engineer a Tower (grades 3-12) Have students think about different tall buildings they know of and share their ideas with a neighbour or with the group. Explain that being a Critical Thinker means that you need to be able to create a design and then monitor and adjust their progress to make sure they get their desired outcomes. Ask them to listen to the story and think about what the character did that helped them be Critical Thinker. Read aloud Andrea Beaty's book "Iggy Peck Architect."
