Philosopher's Cafe (grades6-12)
Provide student with a philosophical or controversial question and have them discuss the question. Teach students aspects of Socratic dialogue to develop their questioning. Vertical Classrooms (grades 3-12)
Vertical classrooms have students showing their thinking to problems on vertical surfaces in the classroom. Visible random grouping and working as a group on a vertical surface, involve active communication, critical thinking, a more focused brain, and stronger engagement. Reflection (Grades 3-9)
Use the picture book "The Skunk" by Mac Barnett and the frame sheet below to have the students reflect on the skill of questioning and investigating.
Creating A Culture of Questioning (k-12)
Creating a Wonder Wall is a powerful approach to get your students questioning and investigating in an authentic, age-appropriate way. Students will develop a deeper understanding of the topics that you are investigating and will be more engaged and enthusiastic. (see document below for more details) |
